Apple’s September 2023 iPhone 15 event: Date, time and what will launch

Apple’s September 2023 iPhone 15 event: Date, time and what will launch

Every year Apple holds an event in September where it usually announces a new set of iPhones. Here's what to expect including when the Apple event will start and what will launch.

Apple is expected to take the wraps off the new iPhone 15 range at an event in September 2023. At the same time we could see new Apple Watches and several other new products. Here’s everything you need to know.

When is Apple’s iPhone event?

In 2022 Apple’s September event was held on Wednesday, September 7. This is an earlier date than the annual iPhone event has been held in recent years—for example, in 2021 the event was held on Tuesday, September 14, and in 2020 it was even later, but 2020 was an unusual year due to Covid-19.

Apple hasn’t yet announced the event date, but we expect it to fall around the beginning of September, with September 12 or 13, 2023 looking most likely. September 6 and 7 are also feasible dates but we are hearing that the iPhone release might be delayed this year, so it seems unlikely that Apple will hold an event that early.

We are likely to find out the data in late August. In 2022 Invitations were sent out on August 24. In previous years we have learned that Apple Store workers have been warned of a “major new product release” on a specific date in September and not allowed to book time off.

What time will the iPhone event start?

One thing we can be pretty sure about is that the Apple Event start time will be 10 a.m. in California. Here’s what that translates to in other countries around the world:

U.S.: 10 a.m. (PDT), 11 a.m. (MDT), 12 p.m. (CDT), 1 p.m. (EDT)

U.K.: 6 p.m. (BST)

Europe: 7 p.m. (CEST)

Canada: 10 a.m. (PDT), 11 a.m. (MDT), 12 p.m. (CDT), 1 p.m. (EDT), 2 p.m. (ADT)

India: 10.30 p.m. (IST)

Singapore and China: The following day at 1 a.m.

Australia: The following day at 1 a.m. (AWST), 2.30 a.m. (ACST), 3 a.m. (AEST)

New Zealand: The following day at 5 a.m. (NZST)

Apple’s September events usually last around an hour. If you want to watch the iPhone event live we explain how to watch the Apple Event in a separate article.

What will Apple launch at the September event?

We expect the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to be the stars of the event, closely followed by the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, but other new products are also likely on the way including the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. We may also see new iPad mini and the long-rumored AirPods Lite. We may also see new Apple Earpods with USB-C replace the Lightning versions.

At the iPhone event Apple is also likely to announce the date when it will release the new iOS 17 and watchOS 10 operating systems, most likely a few days after the event. We may also get a download date for iPadOS 17, which is usually released at the same time as iOS, but sometimes the iPadOS launches a little later. Apple is also likely to reveal when the next updates to tvOS and HomePod software will be available.

At the 2022 iPhone 14 event we saw Apple launch the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE (2nd gen), Apple Watch Ultra, and AirPods Pro (2nd gen). That was a lot of new products, we aren’t expecting quite so much new hardware this September.

Here’s everything we expect from Apple’s September event:

iPhone 15, Plus, Pro and Max (or maybe Ultra)

It looks like we’ll be getting four new iPhones this year, a similar lineup to 2022, with a standard iPhone 15 and a larger Plus model and a more advanced iPhone 15 Pro and larger Max. There are rumors that the Max could become the Ultra. The rumors suggest the Pro models are the ones getting the majority of the new features, as usual, although it may be the case that the Max-sized model gets new features the Pro misses out on.

iPhone 14: same 6.1-inch display but with Dynamic Island, A16 processor, same 6GB RAM but may adopt the LPDDR5 RAM, U2 chip, USB-C instead of Lightning, mute switch to become solid-state button, new green, yellow, and pink finishes.

iPhone 14 Plus: same 6.7-inch display but with Dynamic Island, A16 processor, same 6GB RAM but may adopt the LPDDR5 RAM, U2 chip, USB-C instead of Lightning, mute switch to become solid-state button, new green, yellow, and pink finishes.

iPhone 14 Pro: same 6.1-inch display with ProMotion and Dynamic Island, slimmer bezels and rounded corners, A17 processor, 8GB RAM, U2 chip, USB-C instead of Lightning, mute switch to become solid-state button, new dark red finish.

iPhone 14 Pro Max (or Ultra): same 6.7-inch display with ProMotion and Dynamic Island, slimmer bezels and rounded corners, A17 processor, 8GB RAM, U2 chip, USB-C instead of Lightning, mute switch to become solid-state button, new dark red finish, periscope lens with 6x optical zoom, support for 8K video recording.

Apple Watch Series 8, Pro, and SE 2

There’s more than one Apple Watch in the pipeline, it seems. An Apple Watch 9 and a new Apple Watch Ultra are coming with a new chip, but not much else.

Apple Watch 9: Same 41mm and 45mm size, S9 chip, better battery life.

Apple Watch Ultra: Same 49mm size, S9 chip, better battery life.

iPad mini

This isn’t as certain as the iPhones and Watches, but we could see a new iPad mini launch at the September event, if we do here’s what’s expected:

iPad mini (7th gen): A16 chip, increased storage (we hope).

Gmail could finally be coming to your Android smartwatch

Google's most recent endeavor at a smartwatch has truly given Apple something to stress over, however it's not only the value that is alluring, on the grounds that new Wear operating system gadgets like the Pixel Watch may before long be surprisingly skilled.

As per bits of hearsay saw by 9To5Google(opens in new tab), the tech goliath is apparently chipping away at updated Gmail and Schedule applications that could be advancing toward Wear operating system.

At this point, neither application is accessible on Google fans' wrists, which 9To5Google proposes could be a direct result of the organization's "dependence" on rich notices that permit clients to cooperate with the substance without completely opening the application, which is more straightforward to pull off on the bigger presentation of a cell phone.

Gmail for Pixel Watch

The Pixel Watch at present ships with the Plan application, which shows a three-day perspective on forthcoming occasions however comes up short on capacity to make new sections (other than utilizing the underlying Google Collaborator).

Furthermore, despite the fact that there's no devoted Gmail application, clients are as yet ready to get warnings that are reflected from their associated cell phone, similarly as with the Apple Watch when there is no watchOS application free.

Up to now, this has been fine for really looking at approaching mail, however sending even a short answer has required an associated Android telephone.

9To5Google notes that it has "discovered that Google is trying both Gmail and Schedule for Wear operating system", the experience for which vows to be "full", alluding to committed Google Work area applications with better collaboration, similar to the capacity to make new occasions or messages, however we'll need to keep a watch out what's not too far off.

Interestingly, all variants of watchOS for the Apple Watch have included adaptations of its committed Mail and Schedule applications, which have gotten steady updates close by particular iOS refreshes.

For the present, some Pixel Watch clients might find more prominent advantage in utilizing the devoted Standpoint Wear operating system application for their email benefits as opposed to getting notices just from their telephone's Gmail application on their wrist.

Apple Watch Ultra vs Apple Watch Series 8: A big upgrade makes a huge difference

Apple Watch Ultra vs Apple Watch Series 8: A big upgrade makes a huge difference

Apple Watch Ultra vs Apple Watch Series 8: A big upgrade makes a huge difference

Hy every one Aaron here for and watch OS 9.1 RC or release candidate released to developers and public beta testers yesterday RC release candidate means it's the final version released to developers and testers before it's released to the public if there's no issues with it it will be the same.version so that's available now if you're on

the beta program and this came out at 204 megabytes as far as its overall size that's a fairly small update on the Apple watch Ultra and should be about the same size on any device you're updating however when the final version comes out it could be around that size maybe a little bit larger it just depends which version

you're actually upgrading from now if you're a beta tester and wondering if you should remove the beta profile I.would probably hold off if you want to stay on the betas in general once the next versions come out however maybe there could be another release candidate sometimes there's an rc2 that's very.rare but if there is you'll need that beta profile in order to install it otherwise there won't be an update and you'll

just have this when it finally releases you just had it a little bit early now let's take a look at the build number and talk about what's new so.we'll go to settings then to General then about and the build number shows us what version this actually is it lets.you know what you're on consistently across devices and you'll see it says version 9.120s75 so if you have that version you.know you're on the final version now.let's talk about what's new and the first thing they've updated is for the latest Apple

watches so this is going to be very good for a lot of people on the latest watches but unfortunate for those that aren't so Apple Watch series 8 Apple watch SE Second Generation and Apple watch Ultra Apple has extended the.battery life during outdoor walking

running and hiking and it gives it the ability to reduce the frequency of checking your heart rate and GPS readings that reduces battery

Apple Watch Ultra vs Apple Watch Series 8: A big upgrade makes a huge difference

usage of.course because you're not turning on

those features so when you go in and turn it to low power mode this also helps by bringing you up to 60 hours of battery life according to Apple on their website this is something they said would be coming later this year and by reducing the frequency of checking those

different features it will actually give you even more battery life however I probably wouldn't turn on low power mode as it's something that

turns off a ton of different features so that's if

you're maybe in an emergency situation or you can't get back to a charger in time otherwise I would leave it as is and you should get even better battery life when doing those different workouts now the next thing has to do with music and applies to all devices they don't specify any devices so this has to do downloading music you can now download over Wi-Fi and cellular without having it on a charger

so maybe you're listening to music you're in a different album and you want it to download while you're taking a walk or something else

you can now do that it will use more battery of course as you're downloading but once it's completed it won't use anymore but it's nice that we have that option I actually ran into that

recently I was taking a walk didn't have the music I wanted and had to wait until I got back so it's great that they've added that now they've also added something across all the different

versions they released and that is matter support matter is a new standard for home devices and that's something that's coming to iOS it's on iOS 16.1 in all the latest versions and

this will support matter which is just a new standard across the industry so not only

on iPhone but also Android and other devices as well it's sort of standardizing something that's been a bit of a last for quite some time so

this should standardize that and make things a little bit better that way hopefully we'll see many matter accessories very soon but either way we

should see that going forward and the.new

Apple TV they announced with this as well looks to have support for thread and matter and those sorts of things also so that could be a hub for those devices now Apple's also fixed a bunch of bugs in these updates so there's a few different things they've mentioned specifically and the first one has to do with voice feedback on average pace during an outdoor run it could

be incorrect and that's something they've actually resolved so they've fixed that they've also fixed something with the weather so if you use the weather app a lot like I do and it tells you there's a chance of rain the estimates shown in the weather app wouldn't always match what we had on the iPhone that's actually been resolved in this update so now it will be more accurate and match everything altogether and that has to do with hourly

weather as well so hourly weather complications again May label the time differently as am during PM hours that's something they've fixed in this update they've also fixed an issue with strength training workouts so if I hit the action button here go into my workouts if you're using strength training sometimes the time duration displayed wouldn't advance for some users so that's something they've resolved and they've also

fixed an issue with voiceover where it may may not announce app names prior to reading

notifications if you receive multiple notifications so if you had a bunch of things come in maybe one from messages and then you had a notification from another app WhatsApp or something else it wouldn't tell you where it was actually located that's been updated with 9.1 so all of those things have

been fixed they'll also be security updates so if we go to Apple's security website on their security website if you scroll down when this

Apple Watch Ultra vs Apple Watch Series 8: A big upgrade makes a huge difference

releases to the public you'll see this updated they don't update this until the public release telling us what's actually in it as far as security updates this will be true for iOS 16.1 and everything else released on that same day and the day that Apple's releasing this is this coming Monday so Apple said they're going to release Mac OS venturing and also iPad OS 16.1 on Monday and usually when they do that that means iOS 16.1 watch OS 9.1 and then also  and home pod OS updates as well expect those on Monday the 24th usually around 1 pm eastern Time or 10 a.m Pacific Time or that's

usually when they release it they could be a little bit later could be a little bit earlier but it should be on Monday and of course I'll have updates

on those when they're released to the public as far as overall performance performance has been pretty good throughout the betas at least for me on the Apple watch Ultra it's nice and

fast opening different apps that I'm not i  Regularly so if we go into the compass I haven't opened that in a while opens right up if we go into different apps whether that be the camera remote it opens up the camera on the iPhone everything seems to be nice and fast as.

Apple Watch Series 8 review: Unchangingly excellent

Apple Watch Series 8 review: Unchangingly excellent

Apple Watch Series 8 review: Unchangingly excellent

This is the Apple watch Ultra that I've been wearing for the past month or so I've been using it every single day and wanted to share the overall experience durability and more and this is the first Apple watch that I've actually wanted to wear and I typically like the Apple watch I

upgraded from a series 7 but normally I'm just not much of a watch person so this one I actually like I think it fits my style and just fits me better because I'm so big as far as my hands and my wrists so because of that I think it just fits me personally a little bit better and so this particular device like I said I've been using for a month and I'm a normal user I'm not really someone that's going out doing extreme sports

working out constantly using Triathlon settings in here and all those sorts of things I'm.just using this as a watch a media player and for a few other things and so design and size wise like I said I think.it fits really well prior to this I was using a series 7 with the size 10 band and it looks okay but on my wrist I actually feel this is

a little bit small because my wrists are so big and my hands are so big so if I bring this in here typically on this Ocean band you'll.see I use the second or first rung so.when I'm using this.it actually feels like it fits properly it doesn't feel too thick to me even.though it's pretty large it just feels like an average sized watch or a normal size watch that fits me proportionally

well if I bring in my 14 pro Max you'll.see here that yes it's pretty large but in my hands it actually looks like a normal size phone so because of that it just seems proportionate to me a little bit better and I actually think this

looks a lot better in person than it does on video or in photos I've had someone talk to me about that they were a little bit disappointed that it was sort of shiny metal but it's actually

Apple Watch Series 8 review: Unchangingly excellent

more of a matte finish than it is a gloss finish so you can see it's matte titanium and I really like it many.people wanted to have it in sort of a

black finish but I think this looks great is sort of bare titanium as far as.the overall look maybe they'll change this in the future but I do like the overall design the thickness of it the way they've

got the crown guard here the button the action button and of course the speaker and sensors so all of that combined if I was to change anything it might be this back plate here it just doesn't seem to match color wise but you would like this maybe to just be black overall but either way it doesn't really matter as it's not something

you're looking at constantly as far as the weight initially I thought it was a bit heavy but because I'm using this Ocean band with it it doesn't feel too different than using this regular Watch series 7 in stainless steel with a stainless steel band on it so I sometimes would use it with the Nomad.Titanium or stainless steel bands and

because this is so heavy they come out.lighter

with that band on it so I really don't notice the weight and the extra bands such as this one or the other band that I have here the woven nylon this makes it feel nice and light it's not something that I even notice it is not a light watch but I got used to it very very fast so I don't really feel it on my wrist anymore as far as the watch bands I do like this ocean watch band I

had one of the others ordered originally.one of the velcro bands but that's still haven't tried that one I have tried the Trail Loop and that one works pretty well but I do like that it works with

all of these bands without a problem and it actually looks a little bit better than I would have

expected with these other bands so you can use it with whatever band you'd like if you're coming from the 45 millimeter it fits no problem you'll see it fits works fine sometimes I use this band and you can dress it up it will look a little bit Goofy with a gloss stainless steel but you

could get the matte finish as well and you'll see here if I put this on it fits as well so it actually looks a lot better than you'd think with some of

these glossy bands and this gives you an idea of what it looks like here so if I was to use the stainless steel band now it's extremely heavy I can feel that weight but in general I think it just

looks much better in person than it does when you see it in any of the photos or videos so let me swap these back so pretty much any watch band that fits the Larger Apple watches will fit the ultra without any problem it just may be a

matter of taste at that point as far as durability I

really don't worry about that at all because well this is titanium so it's pretty strong just in general and then of course this is sapphire which I've found in the past doesn't really scratch I've banged it into concrete into bricks on this watch here you can see the series seven and there's no scratches you could scratch it

Apple Watch Series 8 review: Unchangingly excellent

with a diamond and while some have tested it to be lower grade Sapphire either way it seems to hold up just fine the glass I've had scratches on the sapphire I have not it's also got a

little protection around the outside edge you've got a little lip here if I bring this in close you can see the lip where it sort of protects that screen

just a little bit which is really nice and then of course being titanium it's Just super strong and a very durable metal so I really see no issues as far as durability even if you drop it on the

floor maybe some of the ceramic Parts on the back here would crack the ceramic case on the

back would crack if you hit the right material but in general I wouldn't expect you to break the this

very easily now the display on this is really great not only is it larger 49 millimeters but it's also flat so that's something I really like it just looks

better in my opinion it's flat of course you've got the different watch faces available and it's super bright in fact.
